On Thursday, Politico held its fourth annual Women Rule Summit. Valerie Jarrett, who currently serves as a senior adviser to President Obama, was one of the event’s keynote interviewees.
Jarrett was asked about the final days of the Obama administration, and what they were working on accomplishing.
“The President has been clear with us that our number one priority, other than finishing up the business that we have left to do before January 20th, is to ensure a smooth and orderly transition,” Jarrett told the moderator.
Jarrett did concede that the Obama administration was surprised by the outcome of the election, and called the results “a punch in the stomach” and “soul-crushing” for the administration.
