CNN’s Carol Costello reported that President Vladimir Putin of Russia took issue with President-Elect Donald Trump’s slogan, “Make America Great Again,” in an interview with Japan’s Nippon TV.
“The United States … [is] a great nation … nobody is arguing about that, but I think it is completely excessive and creates certain issues in interactions,” Putin said, according to CNN.
In a transcript provided by the Kremlin-connected Russia Today, Putin specifically discussed Trump’s campaign theme: “I must admit that we have yet to understand how he will develop his idea, his pledge to make America great again.”
