Denisha Merriweather, a school voucher recipient in Florida, said in an interview with MSNBC Friday that the program was a life changer.
“They helped me pay for my college entrance exams and my SATs, and so it really benefited me,” Merriweather said.
Merriweather, now a graduate student, said that she was failing in elementary, but the ability to attend a private school helped her realize her academic potential.
“Being able to attend a private school on the tax credit scholarship really changed a lot of kids’ lives,” Merriweather said.
