Press Secretary Sean Spicer suggested that President Trump is confident that his agenda will move through Congress without the help of the Freedom Caucus during the White House Press Briefing Thursday.
President Trump tweeted Thursday morning: “The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don’t get on the team, & fast. We must fight them, & Dems, in 2018!”
A reporter wanted to know if President Trump understood how important the Freedom Caucus is to moving Trump’s agenda through the house.
“Of course he understands that the goal of all legislation is to get a majority in the House and in the Senate,” Spicer told the reporter. “But at the end of the day…[Presidnet Trump’s] going to get the votes from wherever he can.”
Spicer added that mathematically the Trump agenda can move through the House without the Freedom Caucus but would not speak on the matter of President Trump possibly supporting people who primary Freedom Cause members in 2018.
