White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters that President Trump instructed the Commerce Secretary to investigate using American steel to build the remainder of the Dakota Pipeline.

“The President also signed a memorandum directing the Commerce Secretary to lead a study looking into building the Keystone and Dakota Access Pipelines, as well as any future pipeline with US, made steel and pipe and accessories,” Spicer told reporters.

Spicer went on to say, “This is the first step in the President really delivering on his campaign promise to put American steel back at the backbone at the backbone of the US economy.

Bringing back manufacturing jobs to America was one of the centerpieces of Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

“We are going to rebuild our infrastructure, and we’re going to do it with American workers and American resources,” Spicer concluded.
