White House Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz was asked during Friday’s White House press briefing if the Obama administration believes the Trump campaign had given a platform to white supremacists.
At a Harvard forum about the 2016 election held on Thursday, Clinton communication director Jennifer Palmieri’s claimed that Trump won the election because he provided a platform for white supremacists. Some members of the media have panned Palmieri’s comments.
Schultz dodged the reporter’s question, saying: “It’s not something that I’m going to be able to engage in from here, but that analysis, again, has value. I know that obviously historians will look at it, scholars will look at it, journalists will look at it. So, it’s an important conversation to have, it’s just not one that we’re going to engage in from here.”
