Claire McCaskill tweeted that she had never met or spoke on the phone with the Russian Ambassador. Previous tweets proved otherwise.
Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) tweeted out Thursday that after 10 years on the Armed Services Committee, she had no calls or meetings with the Russian Ambassador, “ever.”
However, McCaskill’s twitter feed proved otherwise as she had spoken with the Russian Ambassador at least twice.

In January 2013, McCaskill tweeted “Off to meeting w/Russian Ambassador.” McCaskill identified the subject of the meeting as Russia’s ban of adoptions of Russian children by U.S. citizens.
More recently, in August 2015, McCaskill tweeted, “Today calls with British, Russian, and German Ambassadors re: Iran deal. #doingmyhomework”.
McCaskill’s tweet about having no contact with the Russian Ambassador came in response to Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ claim that he only met with the Russian Ambassador during the 2016 election in his capacity as a member of the Armed Services Committee.
