American liberals took Emmanuel Macron’s victory in the French presidential election this year as a proxy win, while they continue to lose up and down ballot here in the U.S.
Macron’s win was celebrated by both wings of the Democratic Party:
Victory for Macron, for France, the EU, & the world.
Defeat to those interfering w/democracy. (But the media says I can't talk about that)
— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) May 7, 2017
Congratulations to the people of France who today, by an overwhelming vote, rejected racism and xenophobia.

They may want to take back their support, though, when they find out how much the young Macron spends on makup.
According to Le Point magazine, Macron “spent €26,000 on makeup in his first three months as leader of the country.”
A quick Google search finds that 26,000 euros is roughly equal to $30,808.31.
Do some back-of-the-napkin math, and Macron is spending around $342 a day on makeup.
Now, makeup is expensive. But, for reference’s sake, even the freest American spenders only put down about $11 per day for their makeup, in New York and Connecticut.
All of this begs the question: how do the French people feel about putting down $30,000 to pay for their leader’s makeup?
