The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) announced on Friday that the U.S. economy created 148,000 jobs in December, bringing total job creation for the year of 2017 to over two million.

BLS reported:

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 148,000 in December, and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.1 percent…

Employment gains occurred in health care, construction, and manufacturing.

In December, the unemployment rate was 4.1 percent for the third consecutive month.

It’s the third-straight month of six-digit job creation in the U.S. Out of 12 months in the year, the U.S. added 200,000 jobs or more in seven of them.

For those keeping score, the U.S. added 2.05 million jobs in 2017. President Trump has pledged to add 25 million jobs overall in the next 10 years.

President Trump has also been aggressively touting stock market gains since he was elected president. He tweeted about gains in the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) on Friday morning.
