What a candidate does with his or her money is the best indicator of whether he or she has ambitions of higher office, and a new report from Roll Call seems to indicate Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is going to run for president.

According to the report, Warren’s PAC for a Level Playing field has doled out $5,000 each to Democratic state parties in Alabama, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Montana, and Nevada.

The PAC gave $5,000 to state Democratic parties in Nevada, where Rep. Jacky Rosen is running to challenge incumbent Republican Dean Heller, and Arizona, where Democrats are hoping to pick up the seat of retiring Republican Sen. Jeff Flake.

The PAC also gave $5,000 to the state parties and committees where Democrats are defending their seats.

Among them are New Mexico, home of Sen. Martin Heinrich; Sen. Jon Tester in Montana; Pennsylvania, where Sen. Bob Casey will likely run against Rep. Lou Barletta; Missouri, home of Sen. Claire McCaskill, one of the most vulnerable incumbent Democrats; Florida, where Sen. Bill Nelson is running; and Michigan, home of Sen. Debbie Stabenow.

In addition to the candidates facing tight races in 2018, Warren also gave money to allies in Washington and New Hampshire, as well as Texas.

This behavior follows a common pattern in politics, one well established by the Clinton wing.

Does it guarantee Warren runs in 2020? Not necessarily, but it means she’s certainly keeping the option open.
