2020 WATCH: Kasich Launches Center-Right Group ‘Two Paths America’

Former Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who unsuccessfully sought the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in 2016, launched a “center-right, Ohio-based group” Wednesday called Two Paths America according to Axios.

Kasich, who has been a vocal critic of President Trump, has said that he is “very seriously” considering running against Trump in 2020 for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination, and the formation of Two Paths America could be Kasich’s first step.

The group’s advisory committee is made up of some prominent former officials from the Republican Party, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rick Snyder, Christine Todd Whitman, and Bill Kristol.

“After the midterm elections, and a lack of innovative policy ideas coming out of Washington, it’s become increasingly clear that we need to design center-right solutions on issues that will improve the lives of Americans,” Jo Ann Davidson, the former speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives and member of the board of Two Paths America, said in a statement on the group’s website. “America is hungry for some conservative ideas and these respected thought leaders are determined to help find some new and innovative ideas.”

Two Paths America’s website also includes a section called “America Divided,” which highlights a poll the group commit which showed, “political and racial divisions are the most serious problems facing the country.”

“The top two solutions to putting aside differences, each garnering more than 90 percent agreement, was capturing the same spirit when Americans put aside their differences to help one another during a natural disaster, and breaking party allegiances to put country over party and come together as Americans.”

While launching Two Paths America might be Kasich’s first step in launching a 2020 presidential campaign recent polling in early primary states shows there is little support for Kasich among Republican primary voters. But a lack of support from voters has never stopped Kasich before.
