Two national Democrats are back in the 2020 spotlight this week, with rumors swirling on Thursday about outgoing Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D-VA) and ex-Vice President Joe Biden.

According to The Hill, a friend of McAuliffe said the governor, who is finishing up his term this year, is “taking [a possible presidential run] seriously.”

“I don’t think he’s 100 percent decided that this is something he’s planning to do but it is something he’s seriously considering.”

“Whether he pulls the trigger or not, that remains to be seen,” the friend added.

Of course, as NTK Network noted on Wednesday, McAuliffe will have to wade through a lawsuit filed against him and Hillary Clinton’s brother by investors in China over a botched investment deal.

Then there’s Biden, the closest thing to a frontrunner the Democrats have if he chooses to run in 2020.

The Obama deputy launched a new website on Wednesday, called the Biden Forum.

The site bills itself as a place to have a “conversation about the future of the middle class.”

Bloomberg News reported:

The site, dubbed the Biden Forum, is an extension of the vice president’s foundation and will feature posts from elected officials and industry leaders on how they would address economic challenges facing the country.

Of course, a party already struggling with the age of its leaders may not warm to a 60-year-old ex-governor and a 75-year-old ex-vice president. Then again, the 2020 field is expected to be large and wide open.
