Apple CEO Tim Cook had a rough 2017, and is in for a rough 2018 after the board of directors revealed on Wednesday that Cook is required to ride private jets “in the interests of security and efficiency.”

“This policy was implemented in 2017 in the interests of security and efficiency based on our global profile and the highly visible nature of Mr. Cook’s role as CEO,” Apple said in a statement released on Wednesday.

According to Apple, “Cook racked up $93,109 in personal travel costs for the company” in 2017, to go along with $224,216 that Apple spent on private security for Cook. Business Insider reported that Cook will have to pay taxes on his travel, which Apple “considered extra compensation.”

Cook made an astounding $12,825,066 at Apple in 2017.

Apple did not say whether Cook will be paying to offset the carbon emissions that his private travel caused, or whether this private travel included Cook’s trips to Ohio and Iowa, which have caused speculation that Cook might be seeking a presidential run in 2020.
