According to analysis from the Center for Public Integrity, the super PAC for EMILY’s List, a multimillion-dollar abortion rights campaign fund, enjoyed a $5.4-million windfall from stocks in a tech company connected to the Chinese Communist Party.

FEC records show that the super PAC, Women Vote!, received a donation of 21,635 shares in Chinese tech giant Baidu Inc. this year. “California physician Karla Jurvetson donated [the stocks] to Women Vote!, the super PAC branch of abortion rights group Emily’s List,” the report explained.

Baidu has upped its involvement with the ruling party in China in recent years, setting up a party committee at its company to enforce political doctrine. As the South China Morning Post notes, it’s unusual for non-state owned firms to set up party committees, but Baidu found it necessary nonetheless. The company’s executives have also attended the Communist Party’s events to hobnob with the country’s ruling class.

Where did EMILY’s List send its communism-stained money? Following May 10, the day the organization profited from the stocks, Women Vote! donated to the following, according to FEC records:

Given their history with the procedure, the Chinese Communist Party is probably unconcerned that the American pro-choice lobby is receiving funds from its affiliated corporations. But Americans may object to a major organization tied to Democrats profiting off of an oppressive communist regime.
