After 12 Years in the Senate, McCaskill Unseated By Hawley

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) lost to Attorney General Josh Hawley (R-MO) on Tuesday night, which ends her 12-year career in the U.S. Senate.

As of Wednesday morning, Hawley led McCaskill by six points, 51.5 percent to 45.5 percent, with 100 percent of precincts reporting.

McCaskill called and conceded to Hawley around 11:30pm ET on Tuesday night.

And minutes later, the Associated Press called the race for Hawley.

The RealClearPolitics polling average on Election Day had Hawley up 0.6 percentage points, meaning he overperformed polling expectations.

Missouri was one of the most contentious U.S. Senate races of the 2018 cycle from the very beginning and was the second-most expensive race in the nation (after Florida), with $117 million spent.
