Republican congressional candidate, state Rep. Katie Arrington, who suffered injuries in a serious car accident last month, told reporters at a press conference that her campaign “never stopped” while she recovered.

Arrington told the press that she tried to continue campaigning even while the ventilators were keeping her alive.

“The campaign hasn’t stopped for me,” she said. “God has a unique and beautiful way of working through me.”

The state representative said she would take her recovery seriously, but she would continue her quest to represent the district in Washington.

“This campaign never stopped for me. This is hard work, perseverance to get to Washington,” she added.

Arrington defeated Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC) in a Republican primary last month, receiving help from a last-minute endorsement from President Trump.

Rolled out in a wheelchair, she started off her remarks by thanking God for watching over her. Her doctors at the Medical University of South Carolina expect her to make a full recovery.
