Al Franken’s Latest Apology is A(nother) Non-Apology

Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) delivered another non-apology apology on Sunday evening, speaking with reporters on the phone about how he “can be a better public servant and a better man.”

In the conversation with reporters, Franken (according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune):

  • Said he’s “let a lot of people down” and is committed to “gradually regain[ing] their trust.”
  • Said he’s “looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow,” a clear indication he has no intent to step down or resign.
  • Didn’t apologize “for behavior he says he doesn’t remember.”
  • Said he never believed any woman would say he’s treated her “with disrespect,” until now.

What was missing from Franken’s discussion with reporters:

It sure seems like Franken is a long way from coming to terms with his inappropriate and vulgar behavior.
