President Trump’s nominee to lead the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Gina Haspel, is receiving a boost from two conservative groups this week, according to separate reports from Politico.

Politico‘s Playbook reported Tuesday morning that America First Policies, “the political group designed to boost President Donald Trump’s policies,” will spend $1 million on an ad buy demanding Sens. Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), and Doug Jones (D-AL) support Haspel’s confirmation.

AMERICA FIRST POLICIES, the political group designed to boost President Donald Trump’s policies, is spending nearly $1 million on TV and digital ads to try to pressure Democratic senators to vote to confirm Gina Haspel as CIA director.

THE SENATORS that are being targeted are CLAIRE MCCASKILL in Missouri, HEIDI HEITKAMP in North Dakota and DOUG JONES in Alabama — all senators from red states. They were going to go up in Indiana, but Joe Donnelly announced he would vote for Haspel’s nomination.

Meanwhile, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is targeting five senators up for reelection in 2018, urging them to support Haspel.

Politico‘s Morning Score reported (paywall):

FIRST IN SCORE — NRSC launches digital ads urging Haspel confirmation: The GOP Senate committee’s new Facebook and Twitter ads push five publicly undecided Democratic senators to support the CIA director nominee: Bill Nelson, Claire McCaskill, Heidi Heitkamp, Sherrod Brown and Tammy Baldwin.

McCaskill and Heitkamp are the only two senators subject to both ads, putting particular pressure on them.

Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Joe Donnelly (D-IN) have announced their support for Haspel, putting her on the cusp of confirmation.
