America First Poll Shows GOP Leading in Ohio Gov Race; Senate in Toss-Up Territory

A new poll released by America First Action super PAC shows Republican candidates leading in one statewide race in Ohio, and in the hunt in another.

Rep. Jim Renacci (R-OH) trails incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) by just four percentage points, 45-41, according to the poll released first to Breitbart News. That margin is within the poll’s 4.9-percent margin of error, and shows Brown in a much more vulnerable position than perhaps many expected.

If the results of this poll are borne out in others, it could prove troubling to Democrats, who would be forced to divert resources to yet another state. Democrats are on defense in 10 states won by President Trump in 2016. This poll comes the same day that the Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY)-aligned Senate Majority PAC announced $80 million in television reservations for vulnerable Democrats this fall. The list of states covered did not include Ohio.

On the gubernatorial side, former U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine (R-OH) leads former Consumer Financial Protection Bureau director Richard Cordray (D-OH) by a seven-point margin, 45-38.

Here are the details on the poll, via Breitbart:

The survey of 400 respondents conducted from May 29 to May 31 using a combination of landlines, cell phones, and internet responses has a margin of error of 4.9 percent. The survey includes 41 percent Republicans including leaners, 40 percent Democrats including leaners, and 19 percent independents.
