The New York Times dropped a political bomb on Hillary Clinton on Friday: a man employed by her 2008 campaign, as her faith adviser, was accused of “repeatedly” sexually harassing a 30-year-old woman on staff. The report notes that while Clinton staffers urged her to fire the man, Burns Strider, Clinton refused.

Fast-forward to 2013, and Democrat-aligned American Bridge hired Strider for its “Correct The Record” project, a failed scheme designed to swat away negative stories focused on Clinton in her second presidential run. Here’s an excerpt from the November 2013 Politico story regarding his hiring:

The Correct the Record project is an offshoot under the American Bridge umbrella, but with a staff dedicated to it.

They’ve hired Burns Strider, who was a senior adviser to Clinton in ‘08, as a Correct the record senior adviser and a VP of American Bridge.

With Clinton staffers filling the American Bridge offices, including the group’s founder and longtime Clinton ally David Brock, it’s difficult to imagine some did not know they were hiring an accused sexual harasser.

Still, giving Bridge the benefit of the doubt, Strider’s behavior at American Bridge was a continuation of his misdeeds on the campaign and clearly inappropriate, as BuzzFeed News reports:

He said he frequently kissed people on the head, dating back to his days on Capitol Hill, describing the act of touching or kissing someone on the head as part of cheering staffers on and doing devotional blessings. “I quit doing that after ’08, and I picked it up again at Correct the Record,” he said, “because all my young researchers seemed to like it.”

Sadly, the BuzzFeed story is filled with details of Strider’s behavior while at American Bridge and its offshoot, Correct The Record.

Late-night and inappropriate text messages were commonplace. One woman quit after Strider rubbed her back during an event they were both working in Mississippi. Another left after he kissed her on the nose after an Uber ride home.

At least six former staffers “said they felt like Correct the Record offered no clear human resources department or reporting structure through which one might file a complaint.”

American Bridge is, ironically, the organization that paid $200,000 in an attempt to flush out sexual assault accusers of President Donald Trump in the final days of the 2016 campaign. That effort was ultimately a failure.

Bridge’s smutty efforts did not stop there, however. The same day the news broke about Clinton and Strider, BuzzFeed reported that American Bridge is putting money behind a digital ad campaign to target attendees of the Adult Video News Awards in Las Vegas, to ask for stories about Trump.
