MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell compared the images of asylum-seekers at the United States southern border with black ink on their arms to hold their place in line to the Holocaust on Wednesday.

Mitchell and NBC’s Julia Ainsley were discussing the immigration crisis happening at the southern U.S. border when Mitchell noted that asylum-seekers have numbers written in black ink on their arms to hold their place in line at the border security centers.

Though her comments, Mitchell seemed to initially admit that this was happening on the Mexico side of the border but also indicated it was an “agreement” with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

“I do not believe that it was Americans writing the numbers on their arms,” Ainsley said, correcting Mitchell.

According to CNN, “staff and volunteers with Casa del Migrante” are responsible for writing the numbers on the asylum-seekers arms.

“The images of people at our border with numbers being placed on their arms is such a reminder of the Holocaust. It is not acceptable,” Mitchell said.
