Another Dem Candidate Says He Won’t Back Pelosi for Speaker

"I think if we're going to have a Congress that works, that works together, that can do things in a bipartisan manner, we need to have new leadership."

Democratic candidate Paul Davis, running for Kansas’ 2nd Congressional District, said during an interview Monday that, if elected, he would not support House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s bid to be speaker of the House.

MSNBC’s Garrett Haake followed Davis around the Kansas district during a segment about Democrats running away from Pelosi in red states.

“What I am seeing in some of these red states is an increasing number of Democratic candidates who aren’t so sure” that Pelosi should be Speaker, Haake reported.

“I think if we’re going to have a Congress that works, that works together, that can do things in a bipartisan manner, we need to have new leadership,” Davis said.

Haake reported that Davis is joining a growing number of Democrats in red states who say Pelosi should not be Speaker, and who are hoping to avoid an avalanche of Republican attack ads tying them to Pelosi in the fall.
