AOC on Biden: He Doesn’t ‘Animate Me’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who has been called the future of the Democratic Party, said that former Vice President Joe Biden’s 2020 potential presidential bid does not “animate” her during an interview on Yahoo News’ “Skullduggery” podcast on Sunday.

“I will support whoever the Democratic nominee is,” Ocasio-Cortez said when asked for “her opinion of a Biden candidacy” during the interview, according to USA Today.

“[He] does not particularly animate me right now,” Ocasio-Cortez said about a Biden run. She cited “a lot of issues” to explain why.

“I can understand why people would be excited by that, this idea that we can go back to the good old days with Obama, with Obama’s vice president,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “There’s an emotional element to that, but I don’t want to go back. I want to go forward.”

Ocasio-Cortez did tell “Skullduggery” that she was very supportive of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) presidential campaign. Ocasio-Cortez volunteered for the Sanders campaign in 2016.

“I’m very supportive of Bernie’s run,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I haven’t endorsed anybody, but I’m very supportive of Bernie.”

Ocasio-Cortez was also very supportive of Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) presidential campaign, telling “Skullduggery” what Warren “is bringing to the table” is “truly remarkable and transformational.”
