Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said that she supported impeaching President Trump after reading the redacted version of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s final report on Thursday.

“Mueller’s report is clear in pointing to Congress’ responsibility in investigating obstruction of justice by the President. It is our job as outlined in Article 1, Sec 2, Clause 5 of the US Constitution,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.

Ocasio-Cortez added that she is signing on to Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s (D-MI) impeachment resolution.

“While I understand the political reality of the Senate + election considerations, upon reading this DoJ report, which explicitly names Congress in determining obstruction,” Ocasio-Cortez continued, “I cannot see a reason for us to abdicate from our constitutionally mandated responsibility to investigate.”

Ocasio-Cortez then claimed that she “didn’t campaign on” impeachment and that she took “no pleasure in discussions of impeachment.”

However, almost immediately after Ocasio-Cortez’s primary upset over then-House Democratic Caucus Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY), she told CNN that she would support impeaching Trump.

“I would support impeachment,” Ocasio-Cortez told CNN’s Poppy Harlow in June 2018. “I think that, you know, we have the grounds to do it. I think what really we need to focus on is making sure that we are advocating for the policies to win in November.”

“We all prefer working on our priorities: pushing Medicare for All, tackling student loans, & a Green New Deal,” Ocasio-Cortez concluded. “But the report squarely puts this on our doorstep.”
