Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-CA) attacked President Trump over his decision to pull the United States out the Paris climate agreement while speaking at the One Planet Summit in Paris, France on Tuesday

The One Planet Summit was put together by the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, the president of the World Bank Group, Jim Yong Kim, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, to mark the two-year anniversary of the Paris climate agreement.

Schwarzenegger started his remarks by applauding the leadership of Macron.

“I have seen firsthand when I was governor of the state of California of how powerful states and cities are,” Schwarzenegger told the crowd. “It was the state of California that made the first commitment of reducing greenhouse gases by 25 percent by the year 2020 and 85 percent by the year 2050.”

Schwarzenegger then told the crowd that California was on pace to meet and exceed the goals it had made.

“The reason why I am mentioning that to you is … because there were some people worried that President Trump put the United States out of the Paris agreement,” Schwarzenegger told the crowd. “Well, you shouldn’t worry about that because as I’ve said that states and cities have a lot of power.”

“So Donald Trump did not put the United States out of the Paris agreement. Donald Trump put Donald Trump out of the Paris agreement,” Schwarzenegger told the crowd, to applause.

The camera then shifts from Schwarzenegger to Macron, who seemed noticeably happy with Schwarzenegger’s line of attack against Trump.

“The only problem [Trump] has is that he’s stuck in the past while we are all marching into the future. And I can tell you one thing, that I am very proud of the kind of work that is going on here,” Schwarzenegger concluded.
