As U.S. Cities Celebrate the Arrival of 5G, iPhone Customers Left in Stone Age

Wireless company AT&T launched its 5G Evolution campaign this week, bringing faster wireless connection speeds to customers in hundreds of U.S. cities.

5G Evolution, the company claims, can deliver speeds of up to “400 megabits per second to your cell phone.”

And while Americans in cities from Tuscaloosa to Pittsburgh are benefiting from this boost in speed, not all AT&T customers are experiencing a faster connection.

Notably, iPhone users are left in dust of competitors like Samsung, LG, and Motorola, whose internal technology is fully compatible with 5G technologies. Apple products using AT&T are not:

However, if you’re an iPhone owner, you’ll have to wait for the 5G technology. For now, AT&T’s 5G Evolution technology is only available on the following phones: Samsung Galaxy lineup – S8, S9, S8+, S9+, Note8 and S8 Active – as well as the LG V30 and Moto Z2 Force Edition.

But don’t blame the lack of speed on the iPhone on AT&T. According to CNET, it was Apple that failed to provide its current lineup of phones with the technology to handle 5G.

Sadly for Apple customers, the company knew 5G technology was coming, but still decided to leave the proper chips out of its latest iPhone models to save on costs. But it’s Apple’s customers paying the opportunity cost of sticking with a company that put profits ahead of its customers’ needs.
