As Unemployment Dips Below 4%, a Reminder: McCaskill Bashed U.S. Economy Two Months Ago

The Missouri senator inaccurately bashed "meager wage growth," and suggested the economy is weak, in February. On Friday, the Department of Labor announced a sub-four percent unemployment rate.

As Unemployment Dips Below 4%, a Reminder: McCaskill Bashed U.S. Economy Two Months Ago

In February, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) bashed “very meager wage growth” in America and noted the U.S. has “lost thousands and thousands of jobs.” Just a few months, later, though, the U.S. economy has an unemployment rate below four percent.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), part of the Department of Labor, announced on Friday that the unemployment rate sunk below four percent in April. It’s the first time the unemployment rate is sub-four percent since December 2000.

The announcement makes McCaskill’s bashing of the U.S. economy a few months ago even more inaccurate, and puzzling. NTK Network noted at the time that McCaskill’s shaming of the U.S. economy was inaccurate back in February, too.

The facts? The U.S. economy created over two million jobs in 2017. American optimism on jobs hit an all-time high in 2017, according to Gallup. And, on Wednesday, the Labor Department just announced 12-month wage growth in the U.S. was higher in 2017 than at any point in several years.

Will McCaskill’s ugly sell on the U.S. economy work with Missouri voters? Polls increasingly suggest McCaskill’s sell won’t work.
