Attorney General William Barr announced that he would be releasing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s final report with redactions within a week during a House Appropriations Subcommittee hearing on Tuesday.

When Barr would make Special Counsel Mueller’s final report regarding his investigation into possible collusion between President Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and Russia available for the public has been the center of political debate in Washington, D.C. since Mueller concluded his investigation last month.

Barr explained to the committee that there would be four areas that would be redacted from the public version of the Mueller report. Those areas include grand jury information, classified material, information that could interfere with ongoing prosecutions, and information that implicates the privacy of “peripheral players” who were not indicted.

“Right now, the special counsel is working with us on identifying information in the reports that fall under those four categories,” Barr told the committee. “We will color code the decisions from the report and provide explanatory notes describing the bases for each redaction.”

“This process is going along very well, and my original report timetable of being able to release this by mid-April stands. So, I think from my standpoint, within a week, I’ll be able to release the report to the public,” Barr said.
