Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who owns three expensive homes in Vermont and Washington D.C., tweeted Thursday night, asking how many yachts and cars “billionaires need.” He then criticized the rich for their supposed greed, saying, “Give us a break. You can’t have it all.”

In 2016, Sanders purchased his third home on the shore of Lake Champlain in Vermont with a down payment of $600,000, according to Seven Days Vermont. Sanders also owns a home in Burlington, Vermont and a townhouse on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

Sanders’ Lake Champlain home would serve as a summer retreat, according to the report.

A quick browse on Zillow showed that most townhouses on Capitol Hill cost upwards of $650,000.

The 2016 presidential candidate is loved among the far-left for his tirades against rich Americans, but his penchant for expensive vacation homes throws cold water on the populist message.

The hypocritical message Sanders sends when tweeting against rich Americans from one of his three upper-class homes could have a chilling effect on left-wing populism in the long term.

Given the left-wing’s worship of their radical chic leader though, it’s doubtful that the Democratic Party will send out any tweets telling Sanders, “You can’t have it all.”
