BET co-founder Robert Johnson suggested Wednesday that if House Democrats impeach President Trump, it would have a negative impact on the United States economy because everything would be thrown into turmoil.

CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin asked Johnson where he sees the economy two years from now.

Johnson told Sorkin that it depends on what happens with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

“You think the Mueller probe will have an impact on the economy?” Sorkin asked Johnson.

“It will have an impact on the question of how crazy things get in the House,” Johnson said.

Former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) interjected that the Mueller probe will impact business sentiment.

“If the business people feel there really is the possibility of impeachment and then you throw in everything that happened globally,” Johnson said before CNBC’s Joe Kernen asked if impeachment would be bad for the economy.

“It would be because everything becomes turmoil,” Johnson responded. “The whole country gets very scary.”
