Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX), who failed to defeat Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) this fall in the high-profile U.S. Senate race in Texas, is now considering running for president in 2020 – despite previously not commenting on the matter.

Politico‘s David Siders tweeted that O’Rourke told constituents that “he and wife will ‘think about what we can do next’ after he leaves Congress in early January.”

“@BetoORourke acknowledges he has changed his answer on #2020 … now not ruling it out,” Siders later tweeted out.

During his failed campaign for Senate, O’Rourke raised over $70 million, a record-breaking number that caused many political pundits to speculate that O’Rourke would be a formidable presidential candidate.

In a recent poll that asked Democrats who their 2020 presidential preference is, O’Rourke came in third place.
