Biden Is Still Atop the Democratic Primary Field, Despite Accusations

The accusations made by several women over the last couple weeks that former Vice President Joe Biden inappropriately touched them through the years does not seem to be hurting the 76-year-old’s presidential chances, as he’s still atop a new Morning Consult poll released on Tuesday.

The poll, which surveyed 13,644 Democratic primary voters or caucus-goers from April 1 to April 7, found that 32 percent of Democratic voters support Biden, which is just a one-point drop from last week’s poll.

Nevada Democrat Lucy Flores came forward with accusations against Biden on March 29, a few days before the poll was conducted.

The only area of concern for Biden in the new Morning Consult poll might be that those voters who have a “very favorable” view of the former vice president have fallen by 6 points.

But overall, “75 percent of Democratic primary voters said they have a favorable opinion of the former vice president,” according to Politico, which is only down 3 points.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) trails Biden by 9 points at 23 percent, followed by Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) who is in third at 9 percent. Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) is at 8 percent, and at 7 percent, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) rounds out the top five.
