Biden Struggles to Apologize to the Women He Inappropriately Touched

"But I'm not sorry in the sense that I think I did anything that was intentionally designed to do anything wrong or be inappropriate."

Former Vice President Joe Biden did not seem capable of apologizing to the women who have accused the 76-year-old Biden of inappropriately touching them through the years during an interview on ABC “The View” on Friday.

“The View’s” Sunny Hostin asked Biden about the seven women who have made accusations that they felt uncomfortable by Biden’s touching through the years and whether he was prepared to fully apologize to them.

“Look, here’s the deal: I have to be and everybody has to be much more aware of the private space of men and women,” Biden said. “I am much more cognizant of that.”

Biden then said that he thought about whether he should or should not hug the female members of the “The View” when he walked on the stage.

“But, I have to be more cognizant,” Biden said. “But, I have never in my life done anything in approaching a woman that has been other than trying to bring solace.”

“I don’t think anyone has ever said that I invaded their space in a way that was designed to do something, other than making them feel uncomfortable, but not anything having to do with harassment or anything else,” Biden said.

Hostin agreed with this assessment from Biden, but pointed out that they would also like an apology.

“Well, look I’m really sorry if what I did in trying to talk to them, to console, that, in fact, they took it a different way, and it’s my responsibility to make sure I bend over backward to try to understand how not to do that,” Biden said.

Joy Behar interjected that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wants Biden to say he is sorry that he invaded these women’s personal space.

“Sorry I invaded your space, and I’m sorry this happened,” Biden said shrugging. “But I’m not sorry in the sense that I think I did anything that was intentionally designed to do anything wrong or be inappropriate.”
