Former President Bill Clinton blamed former President Barack Obama for not doing enough to help Democrats during the 2010, 2014, and 2016 election cycles during an interview with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday.

Colbert and Clinton were discussing reports that Democrats running in 2018 don’t want the former president on the campaign trail with them because of Clinton’s past indiscretions in the context of the #MeToo movement.

“What I want to say is these midterm elections are important, and the only people who really matter are not me, it’s you,” Clinton said.

Clinton then discussed why the country is so polarized at the moment and pointed out the vast number of elections that take place during a midterm election year.

“President Obama I think, I think he did a really good job, but I think he could have done even more. If all of us who voted in 2008 and 2012 for him had also voted in 2010 and 2014,” Clinton said.

“And 2016,” Colbert added.

“Yeah,” Clinton said before pivoting to blame Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Clinton was appearing on “The Late Show,” as part of his book tour, which has been plagued with questions regarding Clinton’s sexual indiscretions.
