Bill de Blasio, Who Worked for and Was Sworn in By Clinton, Says Clinton Should Have Resigned

It's another case of 'too little, too late' from a New York politician, who was elected in part thanks to the help of the Clintons.

Bill de Blasio, Who Worked for and Was Sworn in By Clinton, Says Clinton Should Have Resigned

Add Mayor Bill de Blasio (D-New York City) to the list of former Bill (and Hillary) Clinton allies saying that Clinton should have resigned over his sex scandals, almost 20 years after they happened.

According to the New York Post, de Blasio told a group of reporters that “if any president did [what Clinton did] today – they would have to resign.”

“If it happened today there would have been a very different reaction. No question,” de Blasio said at an unrelated press conference Monday afternoon.

“I don’t think you can rework history. I think if it happened today — if any president did that today — they would have to resign.”

Of course, de Blasio served in Bill Clinton’s administration and ran Hillary Clinton’s 2000 U.S. Senate campaign.

Former President Clinton even swore in de Blasio as Mayor, in January 2014.

Before the swearing-in, then-Mayor-Elect de Blasio said he “was honored to serve in President Clinton’s administration,” and “couldn’t be more excited to have President Clinton and Secretary Clinton stand with us” at the swearing-in.

The New York City mayor joins Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) in a bout of revisionist history with the 42nd president. Both Gillibrand and de Blasio were elected to office with the help of Bill Clinton.

Gillibrand was the subject of a harsh attack from former Clinton aide Philippe Reines. It’s unclear if de Blasio will be subject to a similar attack.
