Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) maintained her lead in the latest Tennessee Senate poll released by Reuters/Ipsos on Wednesday. Blackburn, who is running for the seat vacated by retiring Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), is facing former Gov. Phil Bredesen in the closely-watched race.

According to Reuters/Ipsos/UVA Center for Politics, Blackburn leads Bredesen, 47-44. The congressman’s three-point lead is just outside the poll’s margin of error of 2.5 percentage points. The poll was conducted online only.

While the results of this poll are closer than previously released polls, it’s the third straight poll showing Blackburn in the lead. The last poll to shown Bredesen leading was a CNN poll from mid-September.

According to the polling, Blackburn may be receiving a bit of a bump from Republicans who are energized by Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Likely voters in both Tennessee and Georgia were more likely to disbelieve the allegation that Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted a fellow student while in high school, the poll showed.

Some 48 percent of Tennessee respondents said they do not believe the allegation, while 35 percent said they do.

Earlier this week, Politico reported that campaign volunteers were quitting the Bredesen campaign in droves after the former governor announced he would have backed Kavanaugh’s confirmation if he were in the Senate.

Meanwhile, Bredesen’s campaign released an average of internal polls conducted by the Democrat’s campaign that showed Bredesen down one point to Blackburn.
