Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), a possible 2020 presidential candidate, will be headed to New Hampshire for an event on Sunday, December 8, according to reports. To some, the visit seems like a play pulled from former President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign playbook.

The reports of Booker’s visit to New Hampshire, which hosts the first primary in the nation, follows reports that he is interviewing candidates to serve as his campaign manager for a 2020 presidential run.

According to WMUR:

“The centerpiece of Booker’s visit will be a New Hampshire Democratic Party “Post-Election Victory Celebration” of gains made by the party’s candidates in the Nov. 6 election. The event will be held at the New Hampshire Institute of Art, 148 Concord St., Manchester, beginning at 2:30 p.m.”

This will be Booker’s second visit to the Granite State in two months. The first was on October 28 for a campaign event with Congressman-elect Chris Pappas (D-NH) and Rep. Ann Kuster (D-NH).

Booker’s December 8 event is reminiscent of one made by then-Senator Barack Obama in 2006, as the Boston Globe’s James Pindell pointed out:

Obama ended up finishing second in the 2008 first-in-the-nation primary, which helped “secure his party’s presidential nomination to serve two terms as president,” according to WMUR.
