The Boy Scouts of America are no more. The organization announced on Wednesday that it would change its name to “Scouts BSA” as it prepares to allow girls in its ranks.

The Boy Scouts announced last year that it would begin to admit girls, and girls began joining the organization’s younger branch, the Cub Scouts, this year.

According to the Associated Press, girls and boys will be divided in the older divisions of “Scouts BSA” to help teach both groups leadership:

The program for the older boys and girls will largely be divided along gender-lines, with single-sex units pursuing the same types of activities, earning the same array of merit badges and potentially having the same pathway to the coveted Eagle Scout award.

Surbaugh said that having separate units for boys and girls should alleviate concerns that girls joining the BSA for the first time might be at a disadvantage in seeking leadership opportunities.

The Girl Scouts are not happy with the decision, telling the AP “they were blindsided.” The group is preparing “an aggressive campaign” to combat “Scouts BSA” poaching of girls.
