In an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday, CIA Director Mike Pompeo rejected the premise of Michael Wolff’s new book, “Fire and Fury,” offering evidence that President Trump is fit for the job.

Pompeo cited the example of the U.S. missile strike in Syria, after the Assad regime used chemical weapons on its own people. The president called Pompeo with very direct, relevant questions while considering whether to use U.S. force.

“My observation is that my dealings with the president, on some of the most important issues that the president has to face, are as professional and as thoughtful as the American people deserve,” he added. “The president is handling these duties in a way that I’m incredibly proud of to be part of his team.”

Wolff’s book argues that Trump is mentally unfit for the position, and Pompeo admitted that he has not read the book.
