Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said on CNN on Sunday that former CIA Director John Brennan’s “hyperbole” in opposing President Trump has become a problem.

CNN’s Jake Tapper played a clip of Brennan for Clapper, in which MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow confronted the former CIA director over his accusations of treason against the president.

“Do you think that John Brennan’s hyperbole is an issue here – is one of the reasons we’re having this crisis?” Tapper asked.

“I think it is,” Clapper responded. “John is subtle like a freight train.”

He added that Brennan and “his rhetoric have become, I think, an issue in and of itself.”

The former DNI emphasized that agreement between former intelligence chiefs was more important than Brennan’s hyperbole.
