Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that she would “join” those saying that President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, if peace on the Korean Peninsula is achieved.

During an interview with Australia ABC News on Monday, Leigh Sales asked Clinton whether she agrees with the President of South Korea Moon Jae-in and British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson that Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize if peace is achieved on the Korean Peninsula.

“It’s too soon to tell,” she said. “You know, look, if there is a positive outcome that can be verified particularly with respect to the North Korean nuclear program that has built-in safeguards so that it is sustainable, not a one-off announcement at a summit, I will join in the applause. Because that is something that will be good for the world, if it can be brought about.”

Clinton added, however, that North Korea has made promises in the past, only to break those promises.

“It’s certainly hopeful, but I can’t be either optimistic or pessimistic at this time,” Clinton said.
