Mary Katherine Ham, a CNN contributor and writer for The Federalist, highlighted the conundrum facing red state Democrats in opposing Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

“In Alabama, Indiana, North Dakota, West Virginia, [people are] double digits in favor of confirming [Kavanaugh],” Ham explained. Those states have Democratic senators up for reelection in the near future.

Ham said that those Democrats find themselves in a “sticky situation.”

In addition, conservative groups are already targeting these senators with ads heading into the midterm elections.

“There’s been a $5.1 million ad buy by Judicial Crisis Network. It’s targeting West Virginia, North Dakota, Indiana, and Alabama,” she said.
