After “Fire and Fury” author Michael Wolff strongly implied that President Trump was having an affair with U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, a panel on CNN’s “Inside Politics” harshly questioned Wolff’s credibility

Haley categorically rejected the insinuations in an interview with Politico, calling the allegations “offensive” and “disgusting.”

“That she felt compelled to address this on the record and forcefully tells you a lot, and good for her!” CNN’s John King declared, talking with Politico’s Eliana Johnson, the reporter who spoke with Haley.

“What [Wolff] said on the Bill Maher Show, it’s reprehensible,” he continued, visibly angry. “If you have proof of something, say something. If you don’t, shut up!”

King pointed out that other parts of Wolff’s book were unsubstantiated, raising questions about the the publication’s credibility as a whole.

Michael Shear, a reporter for The New York Times, called the insinuations “disgusting journalism,” dismissing the allegations as mere gossip and rumors.

CNN’s Dana Bash attributed the accusations to sexism. “This is about a woman in a very important position being distracted by this silly stuff,” she said.

“Frankly, the more women who are in more positions like that, the less we’re going to have to deal with this,” Bash added.
