President Trump’s former personal attorney Michael Cohen would not commit to not profiting off of his work for Trump or running for political office in New York in the future during a House Oversight Committee hearing on Wednesday.

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) asked Cohen whether his appearance before the committee was motivated by his desire to remain in the spotlight for his personal benefit.

“No, ma’am,” Cohen said.

Foxx then asked Cohen if he would commit under oath that he has not and will not pursue a book or movie deal based on his experiences working for Trump.

“No,” Cohen responded.

Foxx asked Cohen to clarify his answer.

“There’s two parts to your question. The first part of your question, you asked me whether or not I had spoken to people regarding a possible book deal, and I have, and I’ve spoken to people who have sought me out regarding a movie deal,” Cohen said.

Foxx clarified her question asking Cohen if he would commit under oath to not pursue a book deal.

“And, I will not do that, no,” Cohen said.

Cohen also added that he would not commit under oath to not pursue providing commentary about Trump for television networks or running for political office in the state of New York.
