Convicted Gun Criminal Eminem Attacks the NRA

Eminem, a rapper with multiple gun-related convictions, attacked the National Rifle Association (NRA) at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday night over their resistance to new gun restrictions.

The rapper added a verse to one of his songs, according to The Guardian, that labeled the NRA as the puppeteers behind Congressional inaction:

This whole country is going nuts, and the NRA is in our way

They’re responsible for this whole production

They hold the strings, they control the puppet

And they threaten to take donor bucks

So they know the government won’t do nothing and no one’s budging

Gun owners clutching their loaded weapons

They love their guns more than our children

But before running his mouth on the issue, Eminem might want to check his own spotty record. In fact, the rapper has multiple convictions on his record for gun-related charges.

According to MTV, Eminem plead guilty to multiple gun charges in 2001, stemming from a confrontation with another performer. The rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, pulled a gun on another man:

Eminem pleaded no contest last month to a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon and a misdemeanor charge of brandishing a firearm in public. The incident took place on June 3, 2000, when the rapper got into an altercation with Insane Clown Posse associate Douglas Dail outside a Royal Oak, Michigan, car stereo shop.

And prosecutors also charged the rapper with gun-related charges earlier that year after he attacked a man outside a Detroit nightclub. The court sentenced Mathers to probation for both crimes.
