Conyers Endorses Son to Replace Him

The representative resigned in disgrace on Tuesday, tapping his son to replace him in the safe Democratic seat.

As Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) announced his resignation on Wednesday, in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations, he endorsed his son, John Conyers III, to replace him.

The representative told Praise 102.7 that he wanted his “legacy to continue through [his] family.”

“I have great family here, especially in my oldest boy, John Conyers III, who incidentally I endorse to replace me in my seat in Congress,” he said.

Conyers cited the example of Martin Luther King, Jr. as he stepped aside in favor of the younger Conyers.

Conyers III isn’t the only Conyers family member running to replace the 88-year old representative, though. His great nephew, Ian Conyers is running as well:
