Outgoing Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) would not say whether he thought President Trump should face a primary challenger in the upcoming Republican presidential primary during an interview on Sunday.

MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt asked Corker if he thought that Trump should be primaried.

“I do think that we’ve got to remember what the Republican Party is,” Corker said.

“That’s not a yes or no answer,” Hunt interjected.

“I want to get away from here and think about it. I mean, this is an every day in the hallway question, right? I want to get away from here and think about that,” Corker said. “What is happening right now is not the standard Republicanism that we’ve had in our country for many, many years, and it’s very different.”

“I think it’s important to remind people that we’re going through an anomaly right now as it relates to much of the standard Republican focus that’s been around for a long time,” Corker said.

Corker than praised Trump’s handling of the economy, citing it as something good that Trump has accomplished.
