Cynthia Nixon Took ‘Cuomo’s MTA’ to Her First Campaign Event. It Didn’t Go Well.

The New York governor's failure to address the subway crisis almost made the new Democratic challenger late to her first event as a candidate.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D-NY) failing subway system almost made his Democratic challenger and former ‘Sex in the City’ star Cynthia Nixon late for her first official event as a candidate on Tuesday.

“I got here just in the nick of time. I allowed an hour-and-a-half for what should have been a 30 minute ride,” she told the crowd at the event. “Cuomo’s MTA!”

The Democrat said that three trains went out of service during her commute.

Liberal advocate Rebecca Katz tweeted a picture of a miffed Nixon being kicked off an out-of-service subway train earlier in the day, raising her arms in dejection.

By all accounts, Cuomo’s management of the subway crisis gripping New York City has been an unmitigated disaster.

The New York Times cited the governor’s use of MTA funds to “bail out three state-run ski resorts” instead of improving the system. And over the last two years, delays, fires, and train derailments have sent the system into a state of emergency.
