A panel at the at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland erupted into laughter when asked about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) proposed 70-percent tax rate, with the CEO of Dell Technologies adding that he doesn’t think the proposal “would help the growth of the U.S. economy,” on Wednesday.

The Washington Post‘s Heather Long asked Michael Dell, the CEO of Dell Technologies, whether he supported the 70-percent tax rate on individuals earning over $10 million, an idea recently proposed by Ocasio-Cortez.

The crowd and panel erupted into laughter at Long’s question.

“Well look, my wife and I set up a foundation about 20 years ago, and we would have contributed quite a bit more than a 70-percent tax rate on my annual income,” Dell said. “I feel much more comfortable with our ability as a private foundation to allocate those funds than I do giving them to the government.”

“So, no I’m not supportive of that,” Dell added. “And I don’t think it would help the growth of the U.S. economy.”
