DCCC Accused of Meddling in Yet Another Texas Primary

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is being accused of meddling in yet another Texas primary by adding Democratic primary candidate Colin Allred to their “Red to Blue” program.

Allred is scheduled to face off in the Democratic primary against Lillian Salerno in the May runoff elections for Texas’s 32nd Congressional District seat.

Salerno sent out a press release on Thursday, which said that Texans are, “sick and tired of a bunch of Washington insiders trying to make their decisions for them.”

“Texas hasn’t elected a new woman to Congress in twenty-two years, and we’re not taking it anymore,” Salerno wrote. “The DCCC would do well to remember: Don’t mess with Texas women.”

While, the DCCC’s Red to Blue” program is not an official endorsement, DCCC Chair Rep. Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) spoke highly of Allred in the press release, which announced Allred had been added to the program.

The DCCC received considerable backlash when the released opposition research against Democratic congressional candidate Laura Moser ahead of the Texas primary.

Moser was propelled into a runoff in large part because of the backlash caused by the DCCC strategy.
